St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day commemorates the life and work of St. Patrick, a Christian missionary who lived in the fourth and fifth centuries.
The shamrock leaf, a species of clover, is the St. Patrick’s Day symbol and green is the colour of the day.
It is a tradition for Irish festivities to take place all across the country. Many Canadian cities hold St. Patrick’s Day parades and at pubs, restaurants, and parties green food and drink is served.
This year St. Patrick’s Day will be a dramatically different event as most celebrations have been cancelled or postponed as authorities seek to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. However, some creative individuals have found ways to use technology and social media to hold virtual celebrations.
Stay safe and keep well.
