The Certified Future Strategist (CFS) Launches June 1

Certified Future Strategist CFS Certification Program

The Future of Career Development Is Closer Than You Think

Over the past several months, something important has been quietly taking shape within Career Professionals of Canada.

What began as conversations about change within the career development sector gradually evolved into a much larger discussion about the future of professional practice itself. Across member conversations, leadership discussions, course development meetings, and practitioner feedback, one theme surfaced repeatedly. Career professionals are increasingly being asked to help clients interpret complexity, uncertainty, and change in ways that go far beyond simply providing information.

In response to these realities, Career Professionals of Canada has developed the Certified Future Strategist (CFS) program, a new national certification focused on future-oriented practice, professional judgment, systems awareness, and the growing importance of interpretation within career development.

On June 1, the Certified Future Strategist (CFS) program will officially open.

Over the coming days, members will begin to see more information shared through the Career Connections eNewsletter, social media, and the CPC website. As we prepare for launch, we wanted to pause briefly to recognize the many individuals who helped shape this work behind the scenes.

At the centre of this initiative is our founder and chair, Sharon Graham, who conceived and developed the CFS program and authored The Canadian Future Strategist eGuide, the foundational resource supporting the certification. Sharon’s long-standing commitment to strengthening the profession, combined with her future-focused vision for career development practice, helped shape a program designed to address the realities that career professionals are increasingly navigating today.

This work was also strengthened by the contributions of reviewers, subject-matter experts, beta participants, volunteers, staff, and leadership team members across our community. Many contributed their time, perspective, and thoughtful feedback in addition to their regular responsibilities.
