A Message From Skye Berry, CPC’s Acting Executive Director

Hello friends,
As a longtime member of Career Professionals of Canada, I am excited to step into CPC’s role of Acting Executive Director. It is a true honour to serve this incredible community of career professionals who inspire me every single day. As I take on this new chapter, I want to share a little about my journey, my gratitude, and my hopes for CPC’s future.
CPC has always been about community and connection. I still remember my very first CPC group session back in 2008. It was a tele-networking seminar. Zoom wasn’t around yet, so we were juggling phones, notes, and the occasional dropped call. Somehow, in spite of the crackly lines and awkward silences, I could feel the energy, curiosity, and support of the people at the other end of every phone line. Around that same time, I earned my first certification, the Certified Résumé Strategist (CRS), which sparked my journey of lifelong learning in the career development profession. From that first tele-networking session, CPC became my learning ground, my sounding board, and my professional family.
Fast forward to today. Stepping into this role is a little surreal, and it has me doing a quiet happy dance behind my laptop, which is now Zoom-enabled, with (mostly) stable Wi-Fi and no dropped calls. Sure, many of our connections are virtual, but that doesn’t make the relationships, the support, or the shared laughter any less real.
A little about me: I’m a Master Certified Career Strategist and Certified Career Development Practitioner, Empowerment and Life Coach, and the first Canadian Certified Graphic Résumé Architect. I’ve been honoured to be recognized by CPC with a number of Awards of Excellence over the years. Over the past 14 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals transform their résumés, LinkedIn profiles, and career strategies so they can rise with confidence in competitive markets. Beyond career transitions, I’ve also supported people navigating major life pivots, whether starting over after divorce, stepping into a new chapter, or rebuilding confidence. My work has always been about helping people launch their lives to new heights.
Through CPC, I have continued to grow and achieve every certification available in our community. Each credential has sharpened my skills, elevated my confidence, and connected me with other dedicated professionals. I know first-hand how valuable certification can be, not only for building expertise, but also for demonstrating credibility to clients, employers, and peers.
Membership in CPC has been just as powerful. It connects you with a caring and collaborative community, ongoing professional development opportunities, and a strong network of peers across the country. CPC is built on Purposeful Kindness, and it shows in the way members champion one another, share knowledge, and celebrate each other’s successes. These small actions, taken together, create something bigger than any one of us.
As I step into this role, my promise is to keep that energy alive. I want CPC to feel welcoming, supportive, and inspiring. I want every professional who connects with us to know that behind every screen is a person who genuinely cares, ready to share, encourage, and cheer you on. Whether it is through a phone call, an email, or Zoom, we are in this together.
It is an honour to serve in this role and a privilege to help guide our mission with integrity, collaboration, and Purposeful Kindness at the heart of everything we do. Together, we will continue to grow, make meaningful impact, and elevate the career development profession across Canada.
With appreciation and excitement,
Skye
