Academic Integrity Policy
Terms of Use | Standards | Guidelines | Privacy
Career Professionals of Canada (CPC) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical behaviour, honesty, and integrity across all learning and certification programs. This policy applies to all individuals involved in CPC learning and certification activities. We all share responsibility for upholding academic integrity in their work and interactions. This policy outlines expectations, supporting a culture of trust, fairness, and respect in professional learning environments.
Our Commitment to Integrity
CPC learning environments are grounded in the following core values:
- Honesty: Acting with personal and intellectual integrity in all work.
- Trust: Supporting open and respectful exchange of ideas.
- Fairness: Ensuring clear, consistent, and equitable expectations.
- Respect: Valuing diverse perspectives and fostering inclusive dialogue.
- Responsibility: Being accountable for actions and contributions.
- Courage: Upholding ethical standards, even when it is difficult.
These values guide all academic, professional, and collaborative activities.
What Academic Integrity Means
Academic integrity involves ethical and transparent conduct in all learning and assessment activities. This includes:
- Producing original work that reflects your own understanding and judgment.
- Giving proper credit for ideas, sources, and contributions, including artificial intelligence (AI).
- Using accurate and reliable information.
- Avoiding plagiarism, cheating, fabrication, or misrepresentation.
- Disclosing any conflicts of interest.
- Supporting fair and respectful participation in all learning environments.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
CPC recognizes that AI tools are part of modern learning and professional practice. Their use must align with ethical standards and transparency.
Participants may:
- Use AI tools to support learning, brainstorming, and skill development.
- Incorporate AI-supported insights when they are critically evaluated for accuracy, bias, and relevance.
Participants must:
- Clearly disclose any meaningful use of AI, including how it was used.
- Ensure all submitted work reflects their own thinking, understanding, and professional judgment.
Participants must not:
- Use AI to generate or complete assignments, certification submissions, or qualification exams in a way that misrepresents authorship.
Failure to properly disclose AI use, or submitting AI-generated work as one’s own, is considered a breach of academic integrity and may result in an automatic fail.
CPC may set additional guidelines for AI use within specific courses or certification activities.
