Dear colleagues,

The Holiday Season is upon us once again and we find ourselves looking forward to another brilliant and beautiful New Year. As 2018 is winding down, we take a look back and are reminded of the fantastic team of members we have in our association. We have had an incredible year here at Career Professionals of Canada and we owe a great debt of gratitude to all of our very generous volunteers for contributing to our growth in 2018.

I would like to personally take this opportunity to thank you all for being such a vital part of this community and for your ongoing support, encouraging CPC’s continued growth as the “place to be” for Canadian career practitioners.  Thank you for participating in our various events and forums. Your expertise and guidance have been indispensable assets to our organization and your insights are greatly appreciated. As a member-driven organization, we couldn’t do it without you and we wish you every success this season, and beyond!

CPC’s Professional Members are a generous and supportive group. On behalf of the members of Career Professionals of Canada, we have made a donation to the Plan International Canada. Our gift will support three different and important programs:

EMPOWER GIRLS IN CANADA

This gift offers growth opportunities to FIVE girls in Canada facing unique challenges. Today’s generation of girls face so many pressures and barriers that keep them from tapping their true power. It funds training, workshops, and inclusive sports programs to develop public speaking skills, self-esteem, knowledge, and confidence to lead, while engaging local boys and men to redefine gender norms and advocate for gender equality. It also extends seats at major conferences, so girls can make their voices heard – putting words to action – and carves space for mentorship in diverse fields, proving girls belong wherever they choose. This gift invests in our nation’s girls to drive positive change – ensuring they have a strong platform to stand on – or can build it themselves.

THE MOM SHOP

This gift helps FIVE mothers and families earn a living to create a better day. What will you see when you enter the mom shop? You’ll see entrepreneurial women carving out their own path and designing their own future. You’ll see mothers who are able to look after their families and keep their children nourished, healthy, and in school. This gift includes vocational training courses coupled with numeracy and financial literacy. It offers Village Savings and Loans programs that help women work together to create small business opportunities like making honey, peanut butter, clothing, or soap – initiatives that are feeding families and providing an income.

A FARMLOAD OF ANIMALS

FIVE farmloads of animals make for FIVE farmloads of food, income, and hope. This gift of farm animals divided up between families in a community will help feed children and generate income to pay for housing, health care, and education. Animals like chickens, pigs, sheep, and goats help teach livestock management skills, growing generations of children that are able to provide for themselves and their families. Strong, healthy families, make for strong, healthy communities, making for robust, vibrant nations — the true harvest of this gift!

With gratitude and wishing you every success this Holiday Season and in the New Year!

Your number one fan. Always. Sharon.
