Nature: Full Time and Part Time
Number of Positions: 2
Duration: ASAP – March 31, 2020 (annual renewal subject to performance, program outcomes and funding availability)
Salary: $24.34 – $25.07/hour

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Case Management

  • Conduct a preliminary character assessment to ensure the clients are ready, motivated and eligible to join the project
  • Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment for internationally trained professionals to identify their level of employability, unique challenges / barriers and training needs during their process of working in their professional occupation
  • Refer clients who are not ready or eligible for the project to other services or resources that are available in the community
  • Provide intensive training and guidance to prepare clients to be ready for the work experience placement
  • Work with clients individually to identify and match a suitable employer for the Targeted Work Experience intervention.
  • Develop a Targeted Work Experience Training Schedule with the client and employer to specify the placement objectives, goals, milestones and expected outcomes for the placement
  • Provide ongoing support to both client and employer to ensure training and development objectives are being met.
  • Provide professional mentoring or networking opportunities for clients to continue to enhance their employability
  • Provide clients with job maintenance support in order to achieve sustainable / permanent employment after the targeted work experience period
  • Follow up with clients on a bi-weekly basis to consistently support, guide and motivate them
  • Provide individualized support to employers to enhance their capacity to better hire, develop and retain internationally trained professionals
  • Develop, review, revise and update action plans according to client needs
  • Keep track of client’s progress and provide regular follow up support and guidance to every case managed client
  • Deliver case management services at outreach locations

Program Activities/Workshops

  • Deliver program workshops to enhance clients’ employability skills
  • Offer individual coaching and facilitated workshops to employers on enhancing workplace diversity and inclusion Coordinate and participate in program events to connect clients and employers/mentors
  • Coordinate and facilitate support groups

Program Administration

  • Compile client progress notes
  • Collect data and prepare reports on a monthly basis and when required
  • Participate in weekly case conference and present cases to Program Manager for review
  • Collect evaluation feedback from clients and prepare summary and analysis of findings
  • Attend Program Advisory Committee meetings as needed Promotion and Marketing
  • Communicate with and outreach to service providers, regulatory bodies and professional associations for marketing and client referrals
  • Connect with employers to provide work experience for internationally trained professionals
  • Manage online forum, monitor clients’ participation and provide online support if required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human resources, counselling, education, or human resources management
  • Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) or equivalent designation
  • 2 years of work experience in a social service environment as an employment case manager/ facilitator

Job Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated skills in conducting and interpreting client needs assessments
  • Solid skills to support clients to develop a realistic and achievable Action Plans
  • Experience and knowledge in career counselling
  • Competent to work with individuals with complex barriers and a broad range of cultural backgrounds
  • Understanding barriers to employment particularly among clients with an internationally trained professional background
  • High level of skills and ability to provide job search support for internationally trained professionals
  • Strong ability to connect with employers to provide job opportunities for clients
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring clients
  • Strong ability to build partnerships with employers, community agencies and other stakeholders
  • Experience in facilitating workshops/group activities, including but not limited to job search, basic life skills, essential work skills and soft skills
  • Proven record of on-going professional development as a career development practitioner
  • A second language a definite asset
  • Solid knowledge of labour market trends and information in the Greater Toronto Area
  • Solid knowledge of community resources and services in the Greater Toronto Area
  • Ability to leverage government and community resources to support clients
  • Strong digital literacy skills including ability to deliver services using technology

Other Requirements:

  • Able and willing to work weekends and evenings as required
  • Criminal Record Check required
