A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins With a Single Step
The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” This quote is an inspiring reminder that every journey in life starts with a simple, yet vital, first step. Today, I take my first step with each of you and start my journey with Career Professionals of Canada (CPC).
As I begin my tenure as Executive Director, I could not be more honoured and appreciative to our Board of Directors for the confidence they have shown in me by selecting me to lead CPC into the future.
Over the last few weeks, I have met with Sharon and the management team many times. Each meeting leaves me feeling more energized and enthusiastic about the opportunities in our field and within CPC to continue to learn, lead, and build a collaborative and sharing community to support career professionals across Canada.
Additionally, I have already witnessed the dedication and passion our team, volunteers, and members have for the association, and I am eager to work with all of you to develop more tools and services to keep our members moving forward at the speed of change in our profession.
Finally, I recognize that I have huge shoes to fill as I step into the role of Executive Director and take the torch handed to me by our founder, Sharon Graham. Sharon has set the bar high, has become a mentor and friend to many of us at CPC, and has worked tirelessly to position our association as a leader in the career development sector.
I am very excited about CPC and its bright future. Together, we will continue to evolve our member services and grow the CPC family. I look forward to hearing from you and working with you in the coming weeks and months.
